ParkerSteel is a leading steel merchant with its headquarters in Canterbury.

The company also operates a Tool Hire Business, a Tools and Fixings Company and two car sales dealerships on behalf of Mazda and Ssangyong. A key aspect that has contributed to the success of the company is safe and speedy delivery of their products. In fact, they offer a Next-Day Delivery for steel stock orders placed before 6 p.m. ParkerSteel, own and operate an impressive fleet of 60 purpose built heavy goods vehicles and articulated trailers, and cover some 30,000Km every day, delivering throughout England and Wales. With a growing vehicle fleet, ParkerSteeel reliance on outsourced fuelling using fuel cards was hampering the team and proving to not be cost efficient.

ParkerSteel chose Cameron Forecourt to supply and install a bespoke in-house fuelling facility.
Giving them the ability to refuel their vehicles before they hit the road, thus saving the cost in time and extra fuel to travel to the nearest suitable fuel station. ParkerSteel now benefit from being able to take control of their fuel consumption data and bulk buying fuel ensures that ParkerSteel secure advantageous pricing.

Clive Brewerton; Cameron Forecourt’s Major Account Manager, met with ParkerSteel to discuss their requirements and then developed a solution proposal. During the site survey, it was revealed that the existing equipment was not compliant with current oil storage regulations. The key issue being that Parkers old oil storage tank was single skinned.

Gary Axford, felt the benefits of the proposal far outweighed any concerns and gave the works the go ahead.
Part of the work required that Cameron Forecourt carefully removed the existing storage tank, observing the environment agency’s guidelines to protect the local area and water sources against leakage or spillage of fuel. Cameron Forecourt called upon the services of Ancorra Environmental Services to undertake the safe removal and disposal of the old single skinned tank.

The new installation includes a 15,000 litres capacity totally enclosed bunded fuel storage tank that is compliant with current Oil Storage Regulations. A Hytek Alpha 70 Litres Per Minute heavy duty fuel dispensing pump, certified to ATEX. The fuel pump boasts a large backlit LCD display, perfect for ParkerSteels fuelling operations during dark early mornings. Tank gauging is provided by an OCIO electronic/hydrostatic tank gauge and a Jigsaw Nova Fuel Management System. The gauge and Jigsaw Nova are paired to provide automatic stock reconciliation, thus giving ParkerSteel peace of mind over their stock control and record keeping.

The total value of the project was just over £19,000 and the time from the engineers first visit to commissioning the installation was just two weeks.
