Sunderland Marina have improved their refuelling operations in time for the busy summer holiday season with the installation of a Cameron Forecourt C Series Diesel Fuel Pump. Ian Rowan, the Marina Manager opted for a weights and measures approved model ideal for the resale of diesel to his boating customers.
The marina is operated by a charitable organisation, The Marine Activities Centre which has a primary objective to provide access to outdoor activities to all sections of the community on a not for profit basis. The centre is a recognised training centre for the Royal Yachting Association and is charged with refuelling many types of small pleasure vessels up to 40ft in length.
The site previously had a pump which was aging and after taking a few too many knocks, Ian decided to search the internet for a sturdy replacement fuel pump. After contacting a small number of suppliers he awarded the works to Cameron Forecourt based on their strong customer service, value for money and ability to work within the current Environment Agency legislation.
Ian stated,
“I had to keep contacting other suppliers for costs on multiple occasions but Cameron Forecourt not only kept in touch throughout the enquiry stage but visited and surveyed the site multiple times prior to installation and then the installation team were very efficient, helpful and gave full of advice on aftercare and operation”
he added
“The installation team’s fast and friendly work was particularly welcomed as I was away on the installation date so my men on site were overseeing the installation. They couldn’t speak highly enough of Darren West and his team. This was a relief on my return and I know I can trust Cameron Forecourt if works were ever required in the future whether I’m here to supervise or not”
Cameron Forecourt had to work closely with the site team and utilised the available crane nearby the pontoon to remove the old pump and lower in the new fuel pump. The project took just two days and since installation boat users have stated they are very happy with the new service and all round it’s been a great improvement.
The C Series Fuel Pump installed is also quite specific to the marina’s requirements linking to an older Gilbarco pump controller with a steady diesel delivery speed of 45 litres per minute. For small fuel tanks on the boats at the marina, this is ideal as spillage or overfills into the sea are not an option. The pump was also approved to ATEX and EN13617 requirements with integral nozzle locking and a volume display on both sides of the pump. Full air separation and a low level junction box were also required to comply with recent legislative changes and full “Marine” specification stainless steel panels.
On the whole the C Series was perfect choice as they have been specifically designed for the harsh environment of a commercial fuelling facility. They are very high quality, heavy duty and durable dispensers designed to provide many years of accurate trouble free dispensing.
